What I did with my day.
Here's some actual content (and the crowd goes wild!!!).
Today I finished the hem on my 12th Night dress *and* the underskirt, so I think I can rest on that one for a bit (and ordered some more ouches because my ravenous sewing room ate the ones I had left). Bonus: Found my SCA jewelry in a fairly logical place that hadn't occurred to me to look until this weekend. Also, had a nice conversation with
nightbocci, she was answering a desperate email I sent her requesting some of her expertise on Germans for the dress I'm working on with
ysabella_dolfin, which has unusual features for the time and place. She's a total doll and got me all straightened out in a matter of moments so I intend to start that project tomorrow. I always figure if you *can* go to the expert then you'd be a fool not to! And I don't get to talk to her often enough, so that made me happy.
Tonight's HMR class was all about holiday travel and how to plan for it so I don't gain weight, which is going to be critical for me in the coming weeks. One of the big challenges with having Christmas with the V-clan in London is that you do it all twice - a giant food-fest on Christmas and then the next day there's a
whole 'nother feast for Boxing Day, with all the relatives you didn't get to see on Christmas. I've gotten pretty good at handling one day of a Challenging Food Environment, but two days in a row makes it a lot trickier for me. Not even mentioning that finding low-calorie food on vacation is a challenge any time of year.
Nevertheless, I'm extremely pleased with my investment of program credit (an 8-week tune up course), as this week's weight change was -1.8 pounds. Bringing my four week total to -6.4 pounds. My initial goal was to lose 10, so I've got just 3.6 to go. Of course, due to basic calorie math you always slow down as you approach your goal (because as your weight decreases the amount of calories you consume to maintain your weight goes down, and concurrently the amount of calories you burn with exercise decreases). But hopefully 10 pounds is a small enough variance that I won't plateau immensely in the coming weeks, and if I can manage to not gain too much in London I have a chance of fitting comfortably into the 12th Night dress I've been spending all this time on. Hooray!
